Leopards
I just finished the third Christine Feehan book in the Leopard People series. I have to honestly say that if I couldn't get these books free from my library's audio book download site, I don't know if I would read them. I read the first one when I bought the anthology Fantasy at a book sale for 50 cents. I have been reading Feehan's Carpathians series for a couple of years now, which I mostly enjoy, so when I saw an anthology with her name on it I decided to buy it (and really, I don't pass up a lot of 50 cent books). Now, I was not completely drawn into this series the way I was when I began reading the Carpathians. It actually took me quite a while before I decided to go ahead and add the second book to my listening collection. I have now read #2 and #3 within close proximity of each other; because I have didn't have any other title jump out at me for audio book selections from the library. I enjoyed #3 a bit more because it felt more dynamic to me. It didn't just involve the leopards in a rain forest somewhere, it involved people in the US on a ranch dealing with family issues. The book I just finished, Burning Wild, was about a man learning to love and trust after being raised by abusive, power-hungry, manipulative parents. I enjoyed the dynamics of Jake and Emma's relationship a little more than the relationships in the first two books. I actually got excited today when I read that book #5 was released this week and the main character is Drake Donovan. Drake has been a background player in other books and I am excited that he will get his own story. I guess I better find #4 and get going on that so I can progress to #5. Actually, the main character in #4 is a major supporting player in Burning Wild, so I hope it is good to read.
