So, someone mentioned today that they read Across the Universe has hints of The Host by Stephenie Meyer- but I don't really see that. There are no aliens and the underground community is all people who are aware of the alien invasion and have run from it. In Universe, the mass of people on Godspeed aren't fully aware of what's going on and they are living a fairly peaceful existence.
Across the Universe- Chapters 33-72

Amy learns that some genetic modification is being used on the animals. Amy and Elder discuss the Season and how the purpose is for everyone to have sex to create a new generation; Amy is appalled by how unnatural it is. Amy gets to look through things her parents packed before leaving Earth. There is more tampering with the cryo chambers. Harley comes to Amy's aide again when she has a run-in with some ship residents. Eldest gives Elder some more information about the running of the ship, but he is still keeping secrets. Eldest shares that he is manipulating hormones, pregnancy and possibly genetics of people on the ship. Amy goes to visit her parents and considers thawing them. Amy goes to talk to Doc and is disturbed by what she sees in the exam rooms with pregnant women. Harley and Amy argue over "normal." Elder discovers more tampering with the chambers just before he discovers Harley making an unchangeable decision. Amy finds her first connection between the tampered- with chambers.
