I really wanted to finish First Grave on the Right today... but fatigue set in and it just isn't going to happen. Oh well.
Mercy Blade-Chapters 4-7
Summary:
Jane comes to away from the bar with the mystery man who saved her. She discovers he has some interesting connections to Leo and that he was the person she was supposed to be delivering her message to. Girrard DiMercy, Gee, is not human and has unknown magics. Gee says he was banned by Leo at the same time he banned the weres. Jane gets a call from Angie warning her to stay away from the blue man. Jane goes to vamp headquarters to deliver a report to Leo on the events at the bar. Leo is surprised, and not happy, to hear about the wolves being at the bar. Jane said she told Gee to leave town, but also that Gee saved her life. She asks Leo some questions he is unwilling to answer. Leo finds out one of his favorite past blood- servants, Maggie, is dead. Bruiser shares some information with Jane about the vampire war in the early 1900's and how his family, specifically his mother and sister, were involved. Bruiser and Jane prepare for a big party with the vampires and two groups of were-cats; they tighten up security. Jane changes and goes hunting; she sees someone watching the house. Cat scents weres on her hunting ground; and another big cat. Jane goes to meet Rick for breakfast, only to find out he was already at the cafe with a mystery woman. Jane analyzes all of the recent occurrences: the outing of the weres, werewolves showing up in New Orleans, Gee returning, wolves and other cats on her cat's hunting ground, and Rick around town with a mystery woman. Jane calls Derek Lee and asks for his help with security for the party. Jane has bad dreams while taking a nap; a new memory of her parents surfaces. Jane has dinner with Evangelina, who is staying with her while in town negotiating with the vampires. Evangelina talks about Jane's relationship with George.
First Grave on the Right- Chapters 9-14
Summary:
Charley's Big Bad saves her when she falls at the warehouse. She recalls seeing him for the first time the day she was born and a specific memory surfaces. They discover the owner of the warehouse and are surprised; the warehouse is empty. Charley starts to recognize more similarities between Reyes and Bad. Cookie shares some information she gathered on Reyes; he was sent to prison for murdering his father. While reading Reyes' file, Charley finds some discrepancies in information. Charley opens up and shares more of the supernatural stuff with Cookie. Cookie tells Charley that Denise had no right to treat her badly growing up, no matter what. Charley shares that Bad has only presented when she has been in danger. Charley makes plans to visit Reyes in prison. She also discovers a connection between Reyes and Uncle Bob. Uncle Bob reports they got a clue in the murder case. Charley meets with an old schoolmate, Neil, who works at the prison. He shares everything he knows about Reyes, including his current condition. Neil agrees that there is something not quite human about Reyes. Charley asks about Reyes' sister, who she learned about the first time she saw him; Neil says there is no documentation of him having a sister. Charley sees Reyes in person. Charley meets up with Uncle Bob at the home of a suspect in the murder case. Charley gets some help from Julio's aunt in getting him to open up about what he knows regarding the shootings. Angel, a 13-year old, dead boy, comes to help Charley with her murder investigation; he reacts oddly to the mention of Reyes' name. Garrett shows up at Charley's apartment to discuss the case; someone else shows up with the intent to kill Charley. Bad shows up to help her and she finally figures out his true identity. Uncle Bob and Charley go to Reyes' old high school to dig for more information; they don't get much.
