Series

I keep saying I'm not going to get into more series... oh, well.  This one was worth it.

First Grave on the Right- Chapters 15-21 (the end)
   Summary:
Uncle Bob is upset to hear Charley is working on Reyes' case; Charley tries to explain why.  The lawyers tell Charley about Benny Price, a man being accused of human trafficking; their murders may be connected to him.  Mark Weir's sister was supposed to meet with a Father Federico to discuss something about the case; the Father did not show up.  Charley wants to set up a sting to bring down Price.  Cookie makes plans for Charley to meet with people who remember going to high school with Reyes.  Charley tries to help Patrick's wife deal with her grief.  Charley gets little information from the women Reyes went to school with; the only significant piece of information being that his best friend in school was also his cellmate in prison.  Mark Weir's nephew, Teddy, meets with Charley and shares a lot of useful information about the murder case.  The police come talk to Teddy; Charley gets a phone call with Reyes' sister's first name.  Reyes visits Charley and tells her, vaguely, he has to keep people from finding her.  Charley goes to meet with Reyes' sister who gives Charley a little more insight into Reyes.  Everyone goes to work on getting proof that Price killed the lawyers; Charley gets hurt- again.  Two of the dead lawyers pass to the other side with the conclusion of the case; the third says not yet.  Charley recalls the first time she figured out that her abilities made people distrust and dislike her.  She is visited again by Reyes; he tells her what he is and why she is in danger.  Charley finds out that Reyes disappeared from his hospital bed; she wonders what her future will hold.

Mercy Blade- Chapters 8-12
   Summary:
Bruiser picks Jane up for the party; she has to remind herself she has a boyfriend when she is near Bruiser.  Jane makes sure security is all set for the party.  The vampires and then the were-cats all arrive at the party.  Kemnebi meets Jane and questions what she is.  The party is going well until the wolves show up.  Kemnebi is upset when the wolves show up and Leo reassures them they were not invited.  Katie shows up, recently risen and bloody.  Craziness erupts at the party; Leo and Katie fight, people are getting attacked, the press is broadcasting events, and the police want in.  A dead body is found; the police are allowed in to help investigate.  Jane tries to sort out and deal with the mess at the party; she is getting upset that there has been no contact from Rick.  The police and coroner start their investigation.  The dead body is Kemnebi's assistant.  The police suspect Katie of the murder and want to take her in but Leo points out they don't have adequate facilities to hold a vampire.  One of Kemnebi's security, a grindylow, is found covered in blood; Kemnebi says he had no reason to kill his assistant, Safia.  They review security footage which shows a couple of things, including a mystery guest.  One of Leo's security guards is questioned for suspicious behavior.  Everyone is surprised to hear cause of death; Kemnebi refuses an autopsy.  Jodi, lead detective, lets some information slip about another case they are working on.  Bruiser gets into some trouble and goes to Jane for help; she struggles with her feelings for him.  Jane suspects Gee had something to do with the mess at the party; he denies it.
