Hockey

Bad part about hockey- long drives to away games.  Good part about hockey- long drives to away games!  Had some Shadowfever electronic issues so I grabbed The Lost Gate and the passenger seat in the car and headed out for a day of hockey games!

The Lost Gate- Chapters 8-21

   Summary:
Danny and Eric choose a neighborhood to start their burglarizing.  The first house holds a major surprise rather than expensive goods.  Stone verifies he knows about the Families and that Danny is a gatemage.  Stone tells Danny about the "Orphan" mages who are not pure Westilian but still have powers.  Stone offers to find Danny someone who can teach him more about his powers; Danny accepts.  Danny overhears Rico telling Jose he doesn't trust Danny and Eric and will kill them if they come to his store.  Danny decides to steal just enough to set Eric up for a while and then head to his new teachers.  They steal a bunch of stuff and head to the fence where things quickly get out of hand.  Danny gives Eric all the money and gates him to his hometown; Danny goes to the home of Marion and Leslie Silverman.  Marion and Leslie welcome Danny into their home and take on the task of teaching him about being a mage; they are limited in what they can teach him about being a gatemage.  They discuss the Gate Thief with Danny and warn him that any gatemage who tried to make a Great Gate will be "eaten" the the Gate Thief.  Danny's learning is slow but he becomes connected to Marion and Leslie.  In the meantime we see Wad becoming quite the spy in Nassassa; he learns all the secrets about Prayard, Bexoi, and Anonoei.  Wad helps Bexoi when he learns of a threat to her life and their relationship becomes closer.  Wad takes dramatic steps to ensure Bexoi's safety and happiness.  Danny meets Veevee when she come through one of his gates.  She has much more information about gatemagery and offers to help with Danny's education.  Veevee teaches Danny a lot and they experiment with different ways to create gates, lock gates, and get rid of gates.  Hull learns of another attempt on the Queen and suffers consequences as a result of it; Wad seeks revenge when those he has come to care about are hurt.  The Queen gives birth to Oath and her and Pryard grow closer.  Danny tells Marion and Leslie he wants to go to high school; they work out a plan to make this happen.  He has a great time at school, makes some friends, irritates some teachers and plays some pranks.  Danny's only at school a couple of weeks before he makes a big mistake.  He meets up with Hermia again and comes to trust her and work with her; she has more information about gatemagery than anyone else has had.  Hermia also has a better understanding of Danny's true power.  Danny, Marion, Leslie, Stone, Veevee, Ced and Hermia come up with a plan to risk the Gate Thief and try to make a Great Gate.  The Gate Thief finds Danny...
