Good and Bad

Finished Lover Unleashed last night, which was great.  I won't go into too much detail about what I liked and didn't like because you can hop over to my review for that.  I will say, again, this is my favorite series of books.  The biggest reason being the relationships the Brothers have with each other.  The relationships they have with their significant others are great and pivotal parts of the story, but the way they relate to and talk to each other is magnificent.  A group of big, hard-ass, leather clad, alcohol drinking, fighters who will support each other, cry with each other, honestly compliment one another, and not back away from showing genuine love and emotion with each other.  I LOVE IT!  Of course the joking, nagging and harassing is awesome, too.  Just a really good series, can't say enough about it.  I appreciate the fact that JR Ward has the guts to write the honest emotions of these men, even the gay ones.  I know readers are torn over the male-male relationship of two of the characters and that Ward has been torn about how to write their story.  I hope she does them as honestly and openly as she has the Brothers who have ended up with females.  I have faith!

On the other hand, I decided to try a self-published ebook in an effort to support authors who are trying to break into the difficult world of writing and publishing.  I wish my first experience had been a better one... Captured by Moonlight was not a great read for me.  My biggest complaint, apart from the characters and plot, were the typos.  I'll put it out there that I am pretty anal about grammar and typing- and this book pushed me over the edge.  I will seek out another self-published author to read.

I'm on vacation starting tomorrow (who am I kidding, I'm not really working today) and plan on reading: Vampire Mine by Kerrelyn Sparks, The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown, The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter, and Autobiography of a Fat Bride by Laurie Notaro.  We'll see how it goes!
