Audio

Listened to Honor's Splendour while driving to and from Rhode Island this weekend and now I'm listening to Skinny Dip.  A lot of times I find myself listening to random books that I know nothing about and are not on my to-read list because they are available for download from my library.  When I travel with my family I do most of the driving, and audio books help the time go by and to keep me awake when the other members of my family have fallen asleep.  When I plan ahead I can go to the library or check online for an audio book that is on my to-do list, when I don't plan ahead I browse my library's online choices (which are not abundant) and pick something that sounds interesting.  This is how I got to both of my recent audio selections.

Honor's Splendour was good with two stubborn main characters, Lady Madelyne and Baron Duncan.  Baron kidnaps Madelyne to get back at her brother, Baron Louddon, for harming Duncan's sister.  Madelyne is happy to be kidnapped away from her abusive brother and ends up challenging Duncan's running of his house and relationships with his family.  Her honesty, bravery, and stubbornness finally break down Duncan's defenses and they come together to seek revenge on Louddon.

I'm almost done with Skinny Dip which has been fun, fast-paced, and entertaining.  The main story, which is basically a woman seeking revenge on a husband who tried to kill her, is enhanced by a colorful cast of secondary characters.  The pain medication- and roadside memorial- stealing bodyguard, the pubic hair dying mistress, the hums-during-sex girlfriend, the police detective who is out of place in the city, and the reclusive, six- times- married hero.  A great lesson in karma.
