Two Countdown Books

I got First Grave on the Right and Mercy Blade today.  Two books I've been waiting for.  Both books are recommendations from authors I love.  First Grave on the Right was recommended by J.R. Ward on her discussion board.  The Jane Yellowrock books were recommended by Kim Harrison on her website.  I feel pretty confident that these two authors aren't going to point their fans in the wrong direction.

First Grave on the Right- Chapters 1-4
   Summary:
We are immediately introduced to Charley Davidson, the main character, and find out she's troubled by erotic dreams.  Charley is called by her Uncle Bob, a police officer, to help him on a homocide case.  When awakened, Charley discovers a recently decesased person in her home; she is not bothered by this.  The dead man, Patrick Sussman, says he was murdered and heard Charley was the person to go to for help.  Charley is the grim reaper, and a PI.  Charley meets her uncle and discovers there were 3 homicides, Sussman and his law partners, Jason Barber and Elizabeth Ellery.  At the homocide scene Charley has a run in with another PI, Garrett Swopes, who recently found out about her ability to see and talk to dead people; he is very skeptical and hostile towards Charley.  None of the 3 murdered people saw who killed them.  Charley mentions there is only one thing on Earth that scare her, another being similar to her, that she calls the Big Bad.  We meet Cookie, Charley's neighbor and receptionist, and her daughter Amber.  Charley thinks her dreams have something to do with a man named Reyes that she met years ago when she witnessed him being beat up by a man, maybe his father.  Charley tries to stop things and get Reyes help but he threatens her away; that is the only interaction they had.
