Finished and Finished

Well, I finished Haunted yesterday and immediately dove into City of Fallen Angels.  Knowing that I would probably have more listening than reading time today, I downloaded the book to my MP3 player.  While I was doing housework yesterday and while I was at a soccer tournament today, I listened and listened.  I couldn't stop.  But it was like driving by a car accident in some ways- not being able to keep yourself from looking, wanting to know what happened, and just hoping everyone is ok.  I feel like this series doesn't throw us a lot of happy- it is a lot of evil, death, and destruction.  Which, on one hand makes the happy moments that much better, but on the other hand just leaves you unappreciative of the happy and wondering when something bad will happen to ruin it.  I loved the return of all the old favorites, plus the appearance and mention of some characters from Clockwork Angel.  I fear that my frustration level with the series may continue to rise because at the end of the book I was just asking myself (maybe out loud), "why can't these two catch a break?"  Great set up for next book- Cassandra Clare knows how to keep you hanging.  There were so many unresolved storylines here that she could write 5 more books just to answer all the questions raised in this one.

Haunted ended well, too.  A nice happy-ever-after with a supernatural twist.  I do find that a good mystery book gets me totally involved in trying to solve the crime, not just read the story.  I always am trying to solve things out with Heather Graham books, and I rarely get it right, which is good for her as a writer, bad for me as someone who likes to win!

I've decided to do some catch-up for Susan Elizabeth Phillips.  There are 3 or 4 books of hers that I haven't read and I figured it is time.  I am also going to continue to get caught up on Heather Graham and her Harrison Investigation books.
